Think of Italy and your thoughts are almost immediately drawn to the gastronomic jewel in the country’s crown – Tuscany. The birthplace of the Italian renaissance, home to some of the most beautiful cities in the world and the location of the renowned Chianti wine producers, it’s no wonder the region is a magnet for romantics and wanderers alike.
Tuscany’s cuisine is much like its landscape – pure, simple and abundant with local produce and strong flavours. Fertile countryside yields plentiful harvests of grapes, olives, truffles and lemons, which are soon transformed into incredible wines, oils and the zesty limoncello which follows any Tuscan meal.
Our regional menu this month will be exploring this incredible region rich in romance, beauty and culinary delights. It begins with crostini di fegatini di pollo – chicken liver pate on crostini, a classic starter no Tuscan meal would be complete without. Simple but satisfying pici alle briciole, hand rolled spaghetti tossed with chilli, garlic and bread crumbs follows, introducing strong flavours reminiscent of a homestyle meal in the rolling Tuscan hills.
Delve into the quaint and picturesque seaside border of Tuscany with pesce alla Livornese – pan-fried white fish with chilli, tomatoes and black olives. And for dessert, tantalise your tastebuds with Florence’s signature sweet, zucotto – a soft, crumbly cake filled chocolate, hazelnuts and saffron cream.
Our Tuscany regional menu will be available throughout October for lunch Tuesday to Saturday. See the full menu here or join us for a journey through Italy’s favourite child.
